Do players finish the campaign tasks in the order the story expects?

When tasks can be done in any order, the story told around them can contradict itself. This entry shows how to measure how often players go out of order, how to treat tasks they skipped, and what share should make you rewrite the text.

Why this works

What matters is which tasks came before which, not where each one landed in the list. Looking at pairs means one skipped task does not spoil the rest, so the result says how far players really drift from the order your story assumes.

When not to use it

It is pointless when the story is meant to be told in any order, or when the game forces one route. Then a high share is no finding. Instead check that each text still makes sense when read first or last.
