Spielerando

Half the players pick the preselected faction: a real choice or just Continue?

When one option is already highlighted, many people press the button without looking. Counting those clicks as choices makes the preselected side look loved. Here is how to separate real picks from click-throughs using what the screen already records.

Why this works

A pick that matches what was already selected, made in a glance, may be a person pressing Continue rather than choosing. Changing the default is a clear act, so it always counts, while keeping it counts only when the person had time to read.

When not to use it

Skip it when returning players already know their faction and pick the same one quickly on purpose. Judging them by reading time is unfair. Split first runs from later ones, or ask what made them pick.
