Spielerando

How long do players go in my story without anything happening?

Pacing is not only about the average: one long stretch with no reward, surprise or scene can lose players who were fine before. This entry measures the longest empty stretch for each player and shows how many hit a painful one.

Why this works

Players forgive a slow stretch only while they expect something soon. An average hides the long gaps, but a single long gap is where people put the game down, so the longest wait matters more than how often things happen overall.

When not to use it

Skip it for slow, quiet games where calm is the point, such as a gentle exploring or building game, or when you cannot say what an event is. There, ask players how the pace felt, or watch where they stop.
