Spot players who go round and round the same conversation without getting anywhere

In adventure stories a hub of topics lets people ask everything, but some players loop through the same few lines and then give up, confused about what to do next. This entry shows how to detect that loop in the log without mistaking the normal return to the hub for it.

Why this works

Returning to a hub is normal; what hurts is returning again and again with nothing new. Counting visits since the last new topic finds players who have run out of things to say and cannot see what to do.

When not to use it

Wrong when repeating is the point, because people re-read for pleasure or may talk to everyone again, and for tiny hubs. Add a clear hint about what to do next instead of counting circles.
