What do players do right after a game over screen: retry, menu, or just leave?

The moment after a death is where horror games lose or keep people, but the log only has scattered clicks. This entry shows how to turn them into a clear answer for each death, including the many players who simply close the window or wander off, and how fast the ones who retry do it.

Why this works

What a player does after dying shows how the death felt. A quick retry means they want to go again; walking to the menu or closing the window means the game lost them, and the silent closing must be counted too.

When not to use it

Wrong when your game has no game over screen or restarts by itself, or when deaths are so rare that the sample is tiny. Watch a few players die and see what they do.
