Keep a defeated story enemy from coming back like an ordinary monster

Worlds refill with creatures over time, and that same refill can bring back the one enemy whose defeat was the end of a chapter. Here is how to separate the creatures that return from the ones that must stay gone, and the few that may return for a reason.

Why this works

Ordinary creatures belong to the place and return with time; a boss belongs to the story, so only a story event may bring it back. Using one timer for both is what makes the final enemy walk in again.

When not to use it

Skip it when coming back is the game, such as a hunt where each boss returns stronger for another round. Or when the area is a training ground meant to be repeated; there, cleared places should refill on a timer.
