A saved game points to a scene I renamed or deleted
After you tidy up your story, some players load a save and land nowhere. Here is how your AI should find the right place to put them back, in what order to try the options, and why a plain "go to the start" is the last thing to reach for.
Why this works
A lost place is best found by what the player did, not by guessing from words. A list of renames gives the exact answer, the trail of visited places gives a close one, and only then do you give up and start over, so the player loses as little as possible.
When not to use it
Skip it when each chapter is short and a new start loses almost nothing, or when your story has one straight line. Then send the player to the start of the current chapter and save yourself the trail and the table of renames.
