Spielerando

Let news about the player spread from villager to villager

After the player does something notable, the baker should know by the next day and the farmer two villages away only after a week. Here is a way to work out who knows what on which day, and how accurate the story still is when it arrives.

Why this works

News travels along who talks to whom, and each retelling costs time and loses detail. Working out the earliest arrival for each person, instead of acting out chatter, gives the same answer on every load and lets a gap in the chain be a real place the news never reaches.

When not to use it

Skip it when the whole world should react at once, such as a public announcement, a bell or a broadcast. Spreading by word of mouth would only delay what everyone hears together. Use a single moment for all.
