Reset-for-a-bonus: pay once for lifetime progress and refuse a reset that gives nothing

Many idle games let the player start over for a permanent boost, and the number of bonus points must come from everything earned so far, not only the current run, or each reset repeats the pay. This entry sets the formula, the guard against empty resets and what carries over.

Why this works

A reward should pay for progress exactly once. Basing the bonus on everything ever earned, and subtracting what was already paid, means a reset can only pay for new progress. Making each next point cost more keeps the choice to wait or reset interesting.

When not to use it

Skip it when your game is short or meant to be finished once, like a story or a puzzle set. Starting over there feels like punishment. Offer a harder replay mode or new content instead of a reset.
