Producers with their own timers: count finished rounds while away and keep the leftover
When each producer finishes a round every few seconds, the time away has to be turned into whole rounds, and a lazy sum either pays too much, too little or throws the half-finished round away. This entry also covers producers that wait for a tap before paying.
Why this works
Work that pays only at the end of a round is worth nothing until the round is done, and a half-finished round is still on its way. So count only whole rounds for the time away, and keep the leftover time, so nothing is paid twice and nothing is thrown away.
When not to use it
Skip it when income should feel smooth and continuous, like a running meter. Whole rounds then make the number jump, and a simple rate times time is easier and fine. Also skip it when rounds are so short that nobody sees the steps.
