Do friend groups stop playing together once their progress drifts apart?

Friends who play at different speeds end up in different parts of the story, and some groups quietly fall apart. This entry shows how to put groups into fair bands by how far apart their members are, and how often each band was still playing together the next week.

Why this works

Friends play together because they share a place in the story, so the gap between the furthest and the slowest is what threatens that. Looking at the extremes finds the friend left behind, which an average would blur.

When not to use it

Do not take the pattern as a sign that the gap causes the break-up: groups with a casual member show both. If you want the cause, offer catch-up help to some groups and compare, or simply ask those who stopped.
