Hide a whispered line from the players it was not meant for
One player's character confides a secret to another, and the shared log shows it to the whole table. Here is how to send each person only their own version of the history, without breaking the order of the log or quoting what they must not see.
Why this works
Whatever reaches a player's screen is already theirs, however well it is hidden. So the secret must never leave the server toward the wrong person, and each reader gets a version with the same numbering and shape, so nothing stalls or points to the gap.
When not to use it
Skip it when everyone at the table is meant to hear everything, as in a small group of friends in one room, or when secrets are passed by the players themselves outside the game. Then the extra care only costs effort.
