Let a group skip a story scene without cheating the one who never saw it
The veterans want to skip the long scene, the newcomer has not seen it and would lose the plot. Here is a vote rule that respects both, who gets a veto, and what the person who skipped without seeing it receives instead.
Why this works
Skipping is a shared choice, but losing the thread is a private cost. Giving the people who would pay that cost a veto, and a short summary when they agree anyway, lets the majority save time without taking the story from someone.
When not to use it
Skip it when the scene changes nothing later, or when everyone present has seen it: a plain majority is enough there. In a game with one player the choice is simply theirs.
