Time a shared line so players reading different languages all finish it
Everyone sees the same moment in their own language, but a line that is short in one language is long in another, and some players read slowly. Here is how to choose one display time that fits the slowest reader, with a ceiling so scenes do not drag.
Why this works
Reading speed depends on the language and the person, not on the author's text. Judging each viewer by their own words and taking the slowest means nobody is cut off, and the ceiling keeps one slow reader from holding everyone else back.
When not to use it
Skip it when the player presses continue themselves, or when each player sees the scene on a private screen. Then each person sets their own pace and no shared time is needed.
