Find out why one friend sees missing or wrong pictures in the shared game
One player sees a blank texture or a different sound, and nobody can say why, because the game files look the same everywhere. Often a file is old, missing or named with different capital letters, which works on one computer and not on another. Here is a list comparison that names each difference.
Why this works
When two machines disagree, the cause is a difference, and a difference can be listed. Comparing a fingerprint of every file, rather than names or sizes, finds the old, missing and mislabeled ones that no one could see by looking.
When not to use it
Skip it when everyone downloads the files fresh from one place at every start: they cannot differ. It also says nothing about a file that is the same everywhere but simply broken; for that, look at the picture itself.
