One stuck player tries a level forty times and my fail rate shoots up
If every attempt counts the same, a single stubborn player can outweigh everybody else on a level. This entry shows how to limit what one person can contribute, and which extra number tells you whether the level is hard for many or deadly for a few.
Why this works
A rate counts every try, so whoever tries most decides it. Limiting what a single person can add keeps the first tries, which are real information, and comparing both numbers shows whether the level is hard for many or only deadly for a few.
When not to use it
Do not cap when stubborn players are exactly the ones you care about, such as a game for experts who retry on purpose, or when you have very few players. Then look at each person's path one by one.
