Is my level too long for the short breaks people play in?
Phone games are played in gaps, and a level that does not fit the gap is left unfinished. This entry shows how to turn your logged session lengths and level times into the share of start moments that still finish, and why long sessions must count for more.
Why this works
People play in gaps, and a level only gets finished if the gap has room left when it starts. Long sessions hold far more possible starting moments than short ones, so they must count for more, and you plan for nearly everyone, not the middle.
When not to use it
Do not shorten a level if players mostly sit down for long sessions, for example on a tablet at home, or if the game saves in the middle so a break costs nothing. Then the problem is the lack of saving, not the length.
