A character who sleeps badly pays for it, and one long sleep does not wipe it out

Insomnia is a classic horror pressure, but a bar that resets with one night in bed takes the teeth out of it. Here is how missed sleep piles up as a debt, how little a lie-in repays, and how short naps help in a way that stays honest.

Why this works

Missing sleep is not made good by one long night; the body pays back slowly. Repaying only part of the extra hours keeps tiredness a lasting pressure and a reason to plan rest, while a limit on the debt keeps the character playable.

When not to use it

Do not use it in a cosy or fast-paced game where sleep is a simple rest button, or where tracking hours would feel like homework. There, let a good night restore the character fully and keep the strain for specific moments.
