How long does a lobby really take to fill when people come and go?
Counting arrivals makes lobbies look full far too early, because the same person can walk in and out several times. This entry explains what to replay from the logs so the fill time and the number of dropouts are honest.
Why this works
A lobby is full only when the seats are held by different people at the same moment. Someone who leaves and comes back fills a seat several times on paper but only once in reality, so you follow who is inside, not how often the door opened.
When not to use it
It does not suit games where the match starts with fewer people, or where bots fill empty seats. Then the moment the lobby is full is not the moment play begins, so measure from the first join to the actual start of the match.
