Spielerando

A character wins 54 percent of matches: overpowered, or just a lucky streak?

Every character will look a bit too strong or too weak in some sample. Before you change anything, ask whether the number is likely to be chance, and remember that checking many characters at once makes false alarms more likely.

Why this works

Any run of games can tip one way by luck, so a win rate alone settles nothing. The honest question is how often pure luck would give a result this far from even, and the answer depends on how many games were played.

When not to use it

Skip it when only a few games exist or when the opponents were not matched evenly, since then the calculation gives false comfort. Also skip it when players already complain loudly: their experience is data too, so playtest the character directly.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "A character wins 54 percent of matches: overpowered, or just a lucky streak?" (read_entry is-this-character-really-overpowered) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
