How much damage does a build deal in a minute with cooldowns and mana?
Listing each ability's damage tells you nothing about a fight, because cooldowns and a limited resource decide what can be cast. A short simulation of the best sensible play gives a single number per build to compare.
Why this works
Numbers on a card hide the waiting. What a build really does is set by how its pauses and its energy line up over time, so playing it out step by step, with one fixed habit, makes builds comparable and the result repeatable.
When not to use it
Skip it when skill and positioning decide fights more than the numbers, such as in a fast action game, or when effects interact in ways a simple routine cannot copy. There, test with real players and read their results.
