Hold a button to craft, and let the bar sink slowly when you let go
The player holds the craft button while dodging, lets go for a heartbeat, and the whole bar snaps back to zero. Or a shaky thumb makes it flicker. This entry makes the bar forgiving without letting anybody leave it half full for later.
Why this works
Hands slip. A button held down is a stream of intent, and a half-second gap in a hectic fight rarely means the player gave up. Letting the bar wait briefly and then sink slowly separates a flinch from a real change of mind, without storing progress forever.
When not to use it
Avoid it for touch controls or accessibility modes where holding is hard to begin with. A single tap that starts a visible timer is kinder there. Also skip it for crafting that must feel like a risk, where letting go should really cost the player.
