Spielerando

Convert pistol rounds into rifle rounds without losing the odd leftover

Three small bullets turn into two big ones. The player has ten small bullets and asks for one big one. Does the game take all ten, round up, or hand out a half bullet? This entry converts exactly what was asked, keeps the leftovers and remembers the spare.

Why this works

Things sold in whole lots cannot be split, yet players think in single items. Keeping the unavoidable surplus as a stored credit means nothing is lost and nothing is invented: every bullet in and out is accounted for, so the player can always trust the count.

When not to use it

Skip the credit when conversion is meant to be lossy as a price for flexibility, or when items are large and rare enough that a spare one would feel like a gift. Then take whole lots only and tell the player what is left over.
