A hero at the chapter's level cap should keep the experience for later

A campaign may stop heroes at a level until the story opens the next chapter. What happens to the experience earned in the meantime? Throwing it away feels cruel, and letting it pile up without a limit breaks the pacing the cap was meant to protect. This entry shows a bank with a ceiling and what happens when the cap is raised.

Why this works

A cap protects the pacing of the story, but effort that vanishes teaches players to stop trying. A bank with a ceiling keeps the reward alive and still stops anyone from skipping ahead. Paying out through the normal path means no second set of rules.

When not to use it

Skip it when the cap is only a few moments away or when heroes level in a sandbox with no chapters. Then banking is clutter, and a simple stop or an open ladder is easier to understand.
