Spielerando

A player's next update is late and their body runs into a wall or slides on forever

When news from a friend's character stops for a moment, you must guess where they are. Guess too boldly and the body drifts through walls and then snaps back. Guess too timidly and it freezes. Here is a guess that fades out and tells you when to stop trusting it.

Why this works

Movement carries on for a moment, so guessing it is right for a short time, but people stop and turn more often than they keep going. Letting the guess weaken and then end keeps the error small and tells you honestly when you no longer know.

When not to use it

Skip it for things that cannot guess well, like a body that turns sharply every moment, or in slow games where drawing in the past is fine. Also wrong when a wrong guess is costly, such as a guess that carries a player through a door.
