The server fixes my character's position and the whole body jerks
Online, the server sometimes disagrees with where your character thinks it is and moves it. Applied directly, the body twitches and the camera shakes with it. Here is how to hide small corrections completely, and when hiding would be the wrong thing.
Why this works
What the rules know and what the eye sees do not have to be the same thing. Fixing the truth at once while letting the picture catch up slowly keeps the game fair and still hides small errors, because the eye forgives a slide far more than a jump.
When not to use it
Wrong when the correction is large or meaningful, like a respawn, a teleport or a hit that threw the player back: sliding across the map looks worse than a jump. Show those at once, perhaps with a small effect.
