Screen flashes in the game that stay within what sensitive players can bear

Hits, explosions and lightning that flash the screen can be harmful to some players when they come in quick succession. A small gate that counts recent flashes makes this safe to ship and costs the look almost nothing. Here is the count, the window and a softer option.

Why this works

Rapid flashing can make some people ill, and no effect is worth that. One shared gate for the whole game, counted in real seconds and not pictures, caps the rate whatever the source, and a gentler setting lowers the strength further.

When not to use it

A limit alone is not a guarantee for everyone. If your game is built around strobing light, such as a rave scene or lightning storm, say so up front, offer a mode without it, and do not rely on this gate to make it safe.
