Tell the player how long to wait for the next ferry or caravan
A ferry that leaves every two hours from morning to evening sounds simple until the player arrives one minute late, or after the last boat, or just past midnight. Here is how to answer correctly in each case, with the right wait and the right day.
Why this works
A timetable only makes sense next to a clock that keeps counting. Answering from the day and the cutoff, not from the time of day alone, gives the right boat after the last one, past midnight and when someone arrives a minute late.
When not to use it
Skip it when travel is meant to be instant or a ferry is a story beat that always waits for the hero. Also skip it for a service that runs when the player calls it; there a fixed timetable only adds waiting nobody wanted.
