Do players who stop right after dying ever come back?
Some quit on a death and return the next day, others never do. This entry shows how to compare them with players who stopped for other reasons, and which recent sessions must be left out because their story is not finished yet.
Why this works
Whether a player comes back is the test of whether a bad ending hurt. Comparing endings by return rate, and only counting sessions that had a full chance to be followed, isolates what dying costs from what simply leaving costs.
When not to use it
Do not use it for games played in one sitting or with no sign-in, since returning cannot be linked to a person. Use a short survey or look at in-session retries instead.
