Spielerando

How many tries does a boss really take if many players give up first?

Averaging the tries of those who won makes a brutal fight look friendly, because the ones who gave up are missing. This entry shows how to count the quitters honestly and where the typical player really stands.

Why this works

Someone who quit is not a person who needed more tries, they are an unfinished story. Following how the group thins out try by try uses everyone fairly, while looking only at those who cleared makes the fight seem easier than it is.

When not to use it

Do not use it when nearly everyone clears the fight or when you only have a few players. Then a plain count of tries is enough; use this when many leave before finishing.
