Spielerando

Choose where a returning player appears so they are safe but near the team

A player who comes back into the fight right in front of an enemy dies again at once, and one who appears on the far side of the map is useless. A good spot is away from danger, close to friends, and not the one that was just used. Here is a way to choose, including what to do when every spot is dangerous.

Why this works

A return should help the player and the team, so safety comes first and nearness second. Choosing the closest spot to friends only among the safe ones avoids both an instant second death and a lonely walk back.

When not to use it

Skip it when the game is built around starting over at one fixed place, or when a returning player is meant to arrive as a surprise or a rescue at a set story moment. There a chosen spot is part of the design.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Choose where a returning player appears so they are safe but near the team" (read_entry coop-spawn-away-from-enemies-near-friends) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
