Make a candle flame bend when a door opens and blow out if the draught lasts
When a door opens in a dark house the flame should react, and a short gust should not put it out while a long one should. Done badly the flame slides sideways like a sticker or snuffs out by chance. Here is how to give it weight, a limit, and a fair memory of the draught.
Why this works
A flame has weight and a memory: it leans slowly toward the wind and survives a short gust, but gives up when the draught lasts. Letting strain build up and drain away makes the player feel that history.
When not to use it
Skip it when the candle is only decoration, or when going out would trap the player in the dark with no way to relight. Use a simple fixed flicker there, or give a clear way to light it again.
