Keep the camera from clipping through walls, then let it ease back out

A camera behind the player that is pushed in by walls and trees can show the inside of the wall for a moment, or it can jump out and in again when scraping a corner. Here is an in-and-out rule with different speeds for each direction that avoids both problems.

Why this works

Seeing inside a wall is worse than any sudden move, so danger is answered at once, while coming back is not urgent and can be gentle. Asking for a calm moment before backing out stops the camera from reacting to every brush against a corner.

When not to use it

Skip it for a fixed or top-down camera that never meets walls, and for scenes where a close, crowded view is wanted, such as a tense corridor. Let the camera stay put or cut to a set angle there.
