Stop the view from jerking up each time the player climbs a step or ledge
Walking up stairs, rubble or a log in a survival world makes the camera jump a full step in one frame, which feels like hiccups. Here is how to keep the body exact but let the view catch up smoothly, including on long stairs and on the way down.
Why this works
The body may jump a step, but the eye should not, because our own head never moves in such jerks. Letting the view start where it was and catch up quickly keeps the body exact while the picture stays smooth.
When not to use it
Skip it for real jumps and falls, which should be felt, and for games with exact platforming, where the view must show the true height at every moment. There, keep the view fixed to the body.
