A slow pan and zoom over a painted background that never shows the edge
Slowly drifting across a still picture brings it to life, but one wrong number and a strip of empty space slides into view halfway through. Here is how to keep every moment of the move inside the picture, whatever the screen shape.
Why this works
The picture is only so big, and the more you zoom in, the smaller the slice you see, so the safe area for the view keeps shrinking along the way. Checking only the start and end is not enough; the view has to be kept inside the picture at every moment in between.
When not to use it
Do not use it when the picture is smaller than the screen or when the player needs to read fine detail while it moves; the drift distracts. Also skip it for scenes where the movement itself carries meaning. Use a still frame or a deliberate cut there.
