Auto-play moves on before the player can read the long lines

A fixed pause per line is far too short for a paragraph and far too long for one word. And if the text is still appearing letter by letter, the clock may already be running. This entry works out how long a line should stay.

Why this works

People read while the words appear, so the time a line needs is whichever is longer, the typing or the reading, plus a breath before the next one. Adding both would feel slow, and counting words copes with long words better than letters.

When not to use it

Wrong for text players must take in at their own pace, such as clues, rules or legal notices, and for choices. Wait for a button press there, and let slow readers turn automatic advance off or slow it down.
