Let idle-aquarium fish swim around and turn smoothly before the glass

Fish in a cozy tank should wander lazily. The simple ways to keep them inside either make them bounce off the glass like balls, snap around in one frame, or vanish through the side. Here is how to make them notice the wall early and curve away like they meant it.

Why this works

A living thing cannot change direction in an instant, so the eye trusts a turn that takes time. Letting the fish feel the wall slowly, and limiting how fast it may swerve, makes it look like a body with weight that decided to go.

When not to use it

Skip it when something must stay strictly inside a box, like a ball in a ball game or an enemy that has to be hittable at the edge. Soft turning lets things come close to the wall; use a hard bounce there.
