Spielerando

Shots seem to hit me from nowhere, or pass through enemies that look hit

When what you see and what counts as a hit do not match, the game feels unfair, and the cause is usually the invisible box around a character. This helper compares that box with the picture and tells your AI what is wrong for your hero, an enemy or a pickup.

Why this works

Players forgive a hit that just missed and resent one that should have missed. So the hero's box is smaller than the picture, an enemy's box is close to its picture, and a pickup's box is larger than its picture.

When not to use it

A game whose goal is squeezing through tiny gaps may want a hero box that is far smaller than usual. Then keep the ratio but make it deliberate, and tell the player with a visible core.

Say this to your AI

Use the Spielerando entry "Shots seem to hit me from nowhere, or pass through enemies that look hit" (read_entry work-act-hits-feel-unfair-check-hitbox) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.
