Find upgrades in your city builder that never pay for themselves

If one upgrade costs far more than the extra income it brings, nobody buys it, and if another pays back in a minute, everybody buys only that. Here is a quick check over a whole list of levels that shows how long each one takes to earn its price back and marks the odd ones.

Why this works

A player never asks what an upgrade is worth in total, only what the next step adds for what it costs. Looking at each level's extra gain and how long that takes to earn back shows the choices the way players feel them, so odd steps stand out in a whole table at once.

When not to use it

Wrong when upgrades are bought for other reasons than income, such as looks, new abilities or unlocking the next area. Payback is meaningless there. It also misses how the choices work together if upgrades boost each other.
