Everything after one line turns italic, or a name in curly brackets shows up raw
One forgotten closing mark in the script and a whole page of dialogue changes its look, or the placeholder for the player's name is printed as it is. This entry gives your AI a line-by-line check that names the line and the kind of slip.
Why this works
A style mark and a name placeholder both promise to end where they began. Keeping a list of what is still open on each line shows exactly the one that was not closed, and overlapping marks are caught too, which an eye skims over.
When not to use it
Skip it for text where brackets are ordinary writing, such as stage directions, or when an effect is meant to run over several lines. Then the line-by-line rule gives false alarms, and a looser check is needed.
