Spielerando

Check that every player has seen enough hints before the twist

A twist feels cheap if some players meet it with no warning at all, and obvious if others had every hint. This entry counts the fewest and the most warnings that any route delivers, so you can tune the setup instead of guessing.

Why this works

A twist is fair when the clues were there but easy to overlook. The unluckiest player decides whether it feels cheap, and the most careful one decides whether it feels obvious, so you must look at both ends of the range, not the average.

When not to use it

Skip it when the shock is the whole point and surprise matters more than fairness, as in comedy or horror. Also unreliable when hints appear only if the player did something earlier, because the count assumes every hint is always shown.
