Decide who gets the reward of a shared team goal when players join late or leave
Four players aim for one hundred defeats. One does nearly everything, one joins for the last minute, and one has to leave early. Handing the reward to everyone present is unfair, and only to the best player feels bad. Here is a rule that rewards real help.
Why this works
Fairness in a group goal comes from what each person did, not from who was there at the end. Keeping a record per player and asking for a modest share lets latecomers and early leavers be rewarded for real effort, and stops anyone riding along.
When not to use it
Do not split by effort when the goal is meant to feel shared, such as a community event where everyone present gets the same thanks. There reward everybody who took part and keep it simple.
