Spielerando

Count "play on five different days this week" without cheating or off-by-one

Players open a puzzle app three times a day and the counter jumps, or the week is one day too short or too long. Here is how to count real days, which days fall out of the window and when, and what to do when the phone clock lies.

Why this works

Progress is worked out fresh from a plain record of which days the player showed up, instead of being nudged up with each visit. A figure that can be rebuilt from facts cannot drift, double up or get stuck, whatever the app does in between.

When not to use it

Skip it when the goal is about effort inside one sitting, like a long session or many plays in a row. Days played says nothing about that. Count the effort itself there, and use day-counting only for habit goals.
