Spielerando

Tell the player whether their shelter really keeps the night monsters out

Players wall in a bed and sleep, then wake up to a monster beside them through a gap nobody noticed. Here is how to check the whole room at once, including the gap that only looks closed, and how big the protected space is.

Why this works

A leak is any way in, and the room can have many. Instead of hunting for holes from the bed, let the outside flow in from every open edge through everything a monster can cross. If it reaches the bed, the shelter leaks, and one pass covers all holes at once.

When not to use it

Skip it when monsters can fly, dig, swim or break walls, since sealed then means nothing. Also skip it for games where danger comes from inside, like fire, cold or hunger. Check what each kind of threat can cross, and test each on its own.
