Make days long in summer and short in winter, with dawn and dusk to match
A seasonal world needs sunrise and sunset that move through the year, so winter nights hurt and summer evenings are a gift. Here is a smooth curve for day length, where in the year it peaks, and how the year wraps without a jump.
Why this works
Real daylight does not jump between seasons, it swells and shrinks smoothly, and slowest near the longest and shortest days. A smooth wave through the year, anchored at noon, gives that feel, and every other time of day can be derived from it.
When not to use it
Skip it in a game with a short, fixed day, like a quick arcade round, or one where seasons are chosen by the story. A set of fixed day lengths, one per season, is easier to design and to explain to players.
