Let players claim land around a banner without overlapping a neighbour's claim

In a shared world each player stakes a patch around a banner, and two patches must not cut into each other. The tests are about the distance between the banners, not the patches themselves, and one more rule decides who owns a tile. Here is the whole check.

Why this works

Two squares of the same size overlap only when their centres are close in both directions, so one simple comparison settles every dispute. A shape that matches the grid is easy for players to see and trust, and the server alone decides.

When not to use it

Not good for a game with a tiny shared map, or where raiding and taking over land is the point. Fixed claims would block the fight; then let land change hands through play, or use time-limited claims.
