Which places on a huge map really kill players, and which only look deadly?
A spot that someone entered once and died in looks like the deadliest place in the world. This entry shows how to rank map areas by danger so that rarely visited ones do not crowd out the places that truly cause most trouble.
Why this works
A rate built from one visit is almost pure chance. Pulling each place toward the overall average, more strongly the fewer visits it has, lets only places with real evidence rise to the top of the danger list.
When not to use it
Skip it when the map is small and every place is visited often, since the correction then changes nothing. Also skip it when danger depends on who comes, such as a beginner area versus an endgame one. Compare like with like instead.
