The store says my new version is not newer than the old one
Stores want an ever-growing build number next to the version name people see, and they will not take a lower one, ever. Counting it by hand goes wrong sooner or later. Here is a way to derive the number from the version name, with the limits that make it fail early.
Why this works
A rule that only ever moves forward is easiest to keep when it comes from one place. Derive the build number from the version name people see, and the number can only rise when the name does, with no second copy to forget.
When not to use it
Skip the derived number if your tool already gives each build a rising number on its own, as many build services do. Then use that and do not build a second scheme. Also skip it for a web game, which has no store build number at all.

Say this to your AI
Use the Spielerando entry "The store says my new version is not newer than the old one" (read_entry store-rejects-update-version-code) in my game. Build it step by step, and show me how you checked that it works.Or skip this and connect the MCP: your AI then finds all of this by itself.Connect the MCP
