Check that every chapter's star gate can be passed by a normal player
The next chapter asks for a number of stars, and somewhere a gate has been set higher than all earlier levels can give, or so high that only perfect players pass. Here is the check that finds both, with a share of stars each gate really demands.
Why this works
A gate is a promise about what earlier content can give, and that supply can be added up before anyone plays. Comparing the ask with the supply finds both the dead ends and the grind walls early, while a fix is still cheap.
When not to use it
Skip it when progress is not gated by a total at all, such as open worlds or games where every chapter unlocks by finishing the last one. Also skip it when stars can be bought or earned elsewhere; then count that supply as well.
