Spielerando

Hand a player from the guided start into the open world with nothing missing

A guided opening teaches one thing at a time and opens doors as it goes, but some players skip, do things in another order or leave halfway. Here is how to finish the opening for them in one go, so every door is open and every needed piece of knowledge is there, exactly once.

Why this works

A player who skips the guidance still arrives at scenes that assume it. So when the tutorial ends, the game catches up: whatever those steps would have opened or taught is given once, and giving it again changes nothing.

When not to use it

Skip it when skipping should have a price, such as a game that wants players to earn each tool. Then do not hand it out for free; let the player find another way, or go back and learn it.
